 Brodney Pool
We need help at safety or no? There are thoe who say yes and those who say no.....I think we are closer than you think but competition breeds success in my opinion.....
I like Craig Stelz.....I think he can playthe game an with a guy like Peppers in front of him I think we could see a bettr player in 10'.... As for an outside guy, I like BrodneyPool, as for what we do, he is a great athlete and he has good hands...He understands zone concepts and I thhink he was a bright spot on a crappy defense...He also i a physical tackle and would bring competition to the safety position....
Who we have now- Manning, Bullocks, Stelz, Payne and Afalava......Manning needs to play one position and we could debate all day on where that needs to be!! I say we just leave him at nickel for now!!! Bullocks played ok down the stretch but Pool is an upgrade, Stelz I alreadywent into ....
Afalava is a SS and that i it.......and Payne is out of the competition inmy opinion...this is where a guy Like Graham who we all know how I feel about him could play FS, he is tough and physical, he understands zone concepts and he is a very good tackler.....The Great thing for us is there are a real good amount of Safeties in this draft and I am excited about the prospects!!!

 Re: Brodney Pool
Pool did have a severe concussion. Those are increasingly worrisome. And what's his status? Restricted?

 Re: Brodney Pool
He's a UFA who was originally restricted(with no CBA in place) since he didn't have the 6yrs+ service accrued. The Browns chose not to tender him an offer making him a UFA. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.s ... ix_re.html

 Re: Brodney Pool
Thanks, Apple, I wasn't sure, but I knew he hadn't been in the league too long. Why didn't they protect with a tender? What's the skinny?

 Re: Brodney Pool
EXACTLY. If he's "all that," why no tender?

 Re: Brodney Pool
Because the Browns are in Transition.....they are shaping up their roster and do not think he fits their team, the guy is a good player, he apparently checked out ok.....so we will see where we go from here!!! Do know he was a player at Oklahoma and he hd 4 pick last year, a good friend of min loves the guy...saying he would thrive with a good team!! He is 6-2!!!!

 Re: Brodney Pool
Phil, Pool does have some good attributes--he was a high pick and is athletic enough that he also played some corner for the Browns--but it is odd that a good, young player was allowed to walk. We need to dig... Calling LT and Rich...

 Re: Brodney Pool
Brodney simply didn't fit into their plans, he did have a concussion, and apparently did not get along with Mangini..........
Apparently upon more digging, he was not tagged because they wanted himto test the waterand will look to re-sign if he comes up empty!!!

 Re: Brodney Pool
Still odd, Phil--not getting along with Mangini--that's normal. Just odd that Holmgren would allow a good young player to walk without comp on a rebuilding team...but...bring him on in, he did have talent.
How many of you guys smell the Walrus stalking the sidelines in Cleveland in the not too distant future...once they get some players on offense?? If I were the dour Penguin, I'd start looking for another job.
